Students from Turkey, Poland, Portugal, Cameroon, and France began their studies under the “Erasmus+” program during the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year at Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv . They will attend classes at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Philosophy and History, the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Education.

The International Relations Office (IRO) organised Orientation Days to help the Erasmus students adapt more quickly to the academic and social environment. During the Welcome Session, they were introduced to the history of Bulgaria and Plovdiv, the structure and activities of the university, the academic conditions, and the regulations for the use of the university dormitories.

Erasmus Coordinators from the respective Faculties were also present and provided detailed information about the academic process, schedules and academic requirements. The IRO experts organised a tour of the main university buildings, libraries and study centres.

Next on the agenda was a trip to Bachkovo, which intended to acquaint the new students with the cultural and historical heritage of the region around Plovdiv. During the walk, they visited Bachkovo Monastery, enjoyed the surrounding nature and took part in a fun quiz. For lunch, they opted for traditional Bulgarian cuisine in the rustic and authentic setting that Bachkovo offers after which they returned to Plovdiv.

Plovdiv University hosted a meeting between students and representatives of the Erasmus Students Network—the largest volunteer association in Europe. Their primary role was to assist the Erasmus students with their integration into their new cultural and educational environment.
